Routine GP Appointments
We have introduced a new online system to make it easier for patients to request routine appointments. This is sometimes called an “online consultation“. It allows you to tell us more about your health concern and how you would like the practice to help.
Submitting an online request is quick and simple, taking just a few minutes. You’ll be asked a short series of questions about your problem so that our clinicians have all the information they need to review your request. Once your form is submitted, we’ll review it to decide the most appropriate next steps, and our practice team will contact you the same day by text to let you know what happens next.
How to submit a request:
- Visit our online reception
- Complete the short form with details of your health concern
- Submit your request
- Our practice team will contact you the same day by text to let you know what happens next.
- Once your request has been submitted please be patient and await the response from our clinical team
Ways You Can Consult With Us
We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get the care and support you need. That’s why we offer different types of consultations.
- By phone – quick and easy, with no need to travel.
- Face-to-face at the surgery – helpful when a physical examination is needed.
- By text or email – flexible and often time-saving.
Many patients find that phone, text, or email consultations are more convenient for them.
Same Day GP Appointment
Important Consideration
The GP may redirect you to a routine appointment if urgent same-day care is not required.
This helps ensure that same-day appointments remain available for patients with urgent medical needs that cannot wait.
Our same-day GP appointments are designed for patients with urgent medical needs that cannot wait for a routine appointment. These appointments allow you to be seen by a GP on the same day you contact the practice, ensuring prompt assessment and treatment.
How to Access:
- Call the practice on 0121 478 1850
- Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 10:30am or 2:30pm – 4:30pm.
- When you call, our Care Navigators will ask questions about your symptoms and offer the most appropriate service to address your health concern.
- If your situation requires a same-day GP appointment, they will put you through to the GP line for a telephone consultation.
What to Expect:
- The GP will review your symptoms and may need to carry out a physical examination or complete tests at the surgery, such as blood pressure checks, blood tests, ECGs, or wound assessments.
- You must be available to attend the surgery on the same day you call. Morning callers must attend before 12 noon; afternoon callers must attend before 6:30 pm. This ensures the GP you speak to can complete any necessary examinations or tests that were discussed during your telephone consolation.
- The GP you consulted with, will provide a personalised care plan to address your health concern.
Cancelling or Changing an Appointment
If you can no longer attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. This helps us to offer the appointment to another patient who may need it.

If You Need Help When We Are Closed
If you need medical help when we are closed, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
Urgent Appointments
If you are unsure whether to submit a routine request or require urgent assistance, we are here to help you decide the best course of action. Our aim is to ensure that patients with urgent health needs are seen promptly, while routine requests are managed efficiently.
To request an urgent appointment for the same day (Monday to Friday):
- Phone us on 0121 478 1850 between 8:00am and 6:30pm
- Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist between 8:00am and 6:30pm
When you contact us, a member of our team will ask for details about your symptoms or concerns. This information allows us to direct you to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service, whether that is a GP, nurse, or another clinical service. We will also explain the expected time frame in which you can be seen, so you know what to expect and can plan accordingly.
This process helps us provide safe, timely care for everyone and ensures that urgent health needs are prioritised appropriately.
If You Need Help With Your Appointment
We want to ensure everyone can access our services easily. Please tell us about any conditions or factors that might make attending or participating in your appointment difficult so we can provide the necessary support.
This could include difficulties with hearing, sight, mobility, communication, or any other health or personal needs. We can arrange support such as interpreters, translation services, or assistance for sensory or physical impairments.
The practice uses Word360, a service offering interpreting, translation, and support for hearing or sight impairments. Please inform our reception team if you need any assistance and let us know when you make contact through our online reception so that we can make the necessary arrangements to ensure your appointment is accessible.
Home Visits
All of our GP appointments are accessed via our Online Reception or through our GP Line. When you make contact, a GP will assess your situation and arrange the most appropriate care plan for you, ensuring you receive the support and treatment you need.
Please note that home visits are only available for patients who are housebound or too unwell to travel to the surgery.
Attending the surgery allows the GP to provide the most comprehensive care, including access to essential medical equipment and facilities such as blood pressure monitors, diagnostic tools, vaccination services, wound care supplies, and other on-site resources that cannot be easily provided at home.
Being at the surgery also enables more thorough examinations and immediate access to additional healthcare staff if required.
Extended Access
We understand that it is not always easy to attend the practice during our usual opening hours. To help, we offer some appointments outside of these times.
Evening and weekend appointments are available as follows:
- Evening appointments at our practice from Monday to Thursday.
- Friday evening and Saturday appointments at our neighbouring practice, College Green Medical Practice.
You can request an appointment through Online Reception or by speaking to a member of our team. We will do our best to accommodate you during extended hours, but this may not always be possible.
For more information, please speak to a member of our team.
